Prof. Navin Nanda – MD, DSc(Hon), DSc(Med)(Hon), FACC, FAHA, FISCU(D)

  • Pioneer  in  Echocardiography  and  Cardiovascular  Ultrasound 
  • First  to  discover  the  pulmonary  valve  by  echo  and  to  diagnose  a  bicuspid  aortic  valve  by  echo 
  • Invented  treadmill  exercise  echocardiography 
  • Introduced  color Doppler to  the  USA, Developed currently used techniques  for  emiquantitation of mitral, aortic and tricuspid  valve  regurgitation  severity 
  • Invented  the  technique  of  transypharyngeal  and  transgastric  ultrasound 
  • Developed  the  clinical  technique  of  3-dimensional  transesophageal  echocardiography 
  • Pioneered  use  of  echocardiography  in  cardiac  pacing  and  electrophysiology 
  • First  to  study  and  show  high incidence  of myocardial infarction  in  young  adults  in  India  and  also  relationship  of diabetes mellitus to  myocardial infarction 
  • Over  1000  scientific  publications,  6  videotext  books  and/or  CDs 
  • Comprehensive  Textbook  of  Echocardiography  (2014),  the  largest  book  of  echocardiography  in  the  world

Dr. Apurva Patel – MD

  • Advanced Interventional and Structural Heart Fellow at the DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center, Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas
  • Did his Cardiology training from Mount Sinai Beth Israel, New York, NY and Internal Medicine from Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio
  • Extensively trained in Structural Heart Interventions (TAVR, TMVR, Mitral Clip, ASD/PFO Closure, Paravalvular Leak Closure and Left Atrial Appendage Closure) and Complex Coronary Interventions (Left Main, Bifurcation, CTO, Atherectomy and Mechanical Support Devices) 
  • Also trained in Endovascular Intervention for Peripheral Arterial Disease
